Sustainable Buildings Conference a Success
01 June 2009
Sustainable Buildings Best Practice in the Northwest
Southport Theatre and Convention Centre:
21st May
“Today’s conference was excellent, it was great to hear about so many projects that have delivered a range of sustainable practices” Lauren Hodges, Wilmot Dixon
In 2007 the Northwest Development Agency introduced their Sustainable Buildings Policy which sets standards in ten key policy areas for developments seeking NWDA funding. The NWDA have now launched their ‘Sustainable Buildings Awareness Raising and Knowledge Transfer Programme’, run by CCI. The programme’s goals are to make public and private sector developer’s, Local Authorities, architects and contractors aware of the policy and practice in the region, thus helping the region deliver a more sustainable built environment.
This conference looked at construction projects in the region that have delivered environmental, economic and/or social sustainability, providing evidence of policy being put into practice. The 12 projects presented were all shortlisted projects for the Northwest Regional Construction Awards that relate to the Sustainable Buildings Agenda. At the end of the conference an exhibition of the projects took place providing an opportunity for attendees to speak to the people involved in projects informally.
Projects presented were:
